Winter Tuna Tournament 01 July – 31 August 2023

The southern bluefin tuna are expected to round East Cape in the coming weeks and our Winter Tuna Tournament will hopefully be well timed to catch a few of these beauties as they travel through our fishing area.

The tournament will run for the month of July and August. Once again, it’s a cash in – cash out tournament at $300 per boat, with all entry money returned as cash prizes.

Cash In – Cash Out Prizes

Only $300 per boat entry.

Open to all MBGFC, Day Members or member of a NZSFC affiliated club – – you must be a paid financial member for 2023/2024 season for any of your fish to count.

Prizes will be CASH and offered as follows

(a) Southern Bluefin Tuna (weighed)

  • 1st 40% of total pool
  • 2nd 20% of total pool
  • 3rd 10% of total pool

(b) Albacore (weighed)

  • 1st 10% of total pool
  • 2nd 6% of total pool
  • 3rd 4% of total pool

If two or more fish of equal weight become eligible for a prize the relevant prize will be shared equally.

(c) Champion Team (on points) 10% of total pool
