Fishing Report
Nothing from out wide this week, but there were quite a few people out catching snapper. I didn’t hear of any spectacular catches, but it seems nobody had too much trouble getting a feed. Most people gravitated toward the popular sports, and those in deeper water were rewarded for their extra travel.
There were some very successful trips to the southern side of the Mercury Islands, and in particular Red Mercury. Danger Rocks also provided a number of good size fish.
I didn’t hear any feedback from people fishing closer to the shore this week, nor about any bait schools.
If you’re out in the water during the week we have VHF channel 61 on in the office and we’d love to hear how you’re getting on. Just call out to Gamebase or Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club, if we hear you, we’ll call back.
NZSFC 70th AGM Volunteers
To the volunteers who assisted in the NZSFC 70th AGM, on behalf of the Committee and everyone at the Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club, I want to say a huge thank you to every single one of you for giving up your time to help us host the NZSFC AGM over the weekend.
Hosting a national event is a massive undertaking for our club, and we absolutely could not have done it without your incredible hard work. Whether you were part of the Tuesday working bee, setting up and taking down the clubrooms, ensuring the delegates’ lunches and refreshments ran so smoothly, hosting the partners activities or driving the courtesy van all hours of the day and night, we are deeply grateful for your effort.
We have already received fantastic feedback from the Council and visiting clubs across the country about how smoothly the weekend ran and how well they were looked after. Your hard work behind the scenes truly showed everyone the very best of our Mercury Bay club spirit.
Thank you once again for your stellar support and for helping us put on such a successful event.
It was a big week for the club, hosting the NZSFC AGM and prizegiving. The club did well financially, and it was a very enjoyable prizegiving dinner here in the clubrooms with 187 people for a black-tie, sit-down dinner.

The South Canterbury team will be joining us for dinner at the club on tonight at 6.15pm ahead of tomorrow’s match against Thames Valley Come down, say hello, and help us give our visitors a warm welcome
Kids’ Fishing Workshops
