Chasing Bluefin This Winter? We Can Help  –   Seminar Tuesday 26th May

Diarise the date!

Winter fishing for Southern Bluefin Tuna is fast approaching, and with it comes another level of risk for crews heading offshore.

Weather windows can be short, conditions can change quickly, and many boats are heading well offshore in colder, less forgiving conditions.

That’s why the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council and Coastguard are working alongside local fishing communities, experienced anglers, and Coastguard crews to put together a free, relaxed seminar ahead of the season.

The evening will focus on practical knowledge, local experience, and real-world lessons to help boatie’s better understand the risks, plan their trips, and make good calls before heading offshore.

We are also currently looking at bringing in a seasoned fisherman to talk through the fishing side of chasing Southern Bluefin Tuna, including preparation, gear, techniques, and their lessons learned from time on the water.

There will also be spot prizes given away on the night.

The goal is simple — to help more crews get out there, enjoy the season, and come home safely.

More details to come.
