Fishing Report

Strong west to southwest winds have been limiting some people’s ability to get out on the water, although there is sometimes a small window of calm for the early risers.

As a result, the fishing has been close to shore this week with reasonably good results. There were reports of a good number of snappers caught between the area off Shakespeare Point out to Castle Island. There was also a surprising appearance of a few gurnards to add to the pot.

There have been one or two very large workups out in the bay, attracting the kahawai round up the smaller fish and from the clubhouse I’ve seen terns ducking and weaving as they follow small shoals of whitebait up the river.

It looks like there could be one or two better weather windows next week, so hopefully some better news for fishing.

Winter Tuna Comp

A massive well done to all 15 teams who took part over the last 6 weeks. We had some awesome fish come through the weigh station, absolutely blowing last year’s leaderboard out of the water!

Congratulations to all our prize winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the tournament.

We also want to say a huge thank you to all our sponsors who got behind the tournament this year. Our anglers took home a combined cash and prize pool worth over $20,000, with our sponsors going above and beyond what was originally advertised. We really appreciate all your support!

And lastly, a big thank you to Caro, Alan and all our volunteers who helped behind the scenes and kept everything running smoothly!

Committee Elections

We have received 5 nominations for 3 available committee positions for the coming year. As there are more nominations than positions available, a vote will be required to determine the final three members of the committee.

The voting procedure will be sent out via email later today so keep an eye out. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure your vote counts.

The final make-up of the next year committee is now in your hands, so we encourage all members to take the opportunity to have their say and cast their vote.

See the homepage of our website for more information as well as the Notice of AGM and unaudited performance report

Prizegiving 26th September 5pm

Just a reminder that the Committee has decided that all trophies will continue to be presented to winners as normal at Prizegiving, along with their certificate. However, following the presentation, the trophies will remain on display in the Club’s new trophy cabinet for everyone to enjoy.

This will help preserve the Club’s history and achievements while allowing members and visitors to appreciate the wonderful trophies and the names of those who have won them.

Junior trophy winners will also receive a miniature trophy they can keep!

NRL Warriors vs Manly Sea Eagles – Tomorrow Night!

As said in the email sent out on Wednesday, the Warriors have a massive game on tomorrow as they take on Manly Sea Eagles in their final regular-season game.

Bring along your family and friends, or even just yourself and head down to the clubrooms to support the boys. The game will be live on the big screen with kick-off at 5pm, bar open from 3pm and kitchen open from 3:30pm!

And that’s not all — we’ll have some Warriors merch to give away at half time for those who are wearing or displaying Warriors colors, so make sure you’re there for your chance to score some.
