Fishing Report
An excellent week of weather, and more expected over the next few days is music to our ears. Even better, most fishers are reporting good catches from the popular fishing spots – good news with our interclub snapper tournament on tomorrow.
Most people are catching good to medium size snapper, but there was one crew that caught and released an estimated 23lb snapper on Wednesday (with photo evidence).
While most people are doing well, I’ve heard good reports from people fishing at the northern end of Great Mercury, both sides of Stanley Island, around the Black Rocks and outside Flat Island.
I haven’t heard of any good catches of snapper from the river mouth yet, but they are catching trevally and kahawai.
