Fishing:

We’ve had fairly mixed messages about the snapper fishing this week but there are still plenty being caught.  The Puddle is proving a popular spot with plenty of fish between 20-30 metres.  If you’re fishing during the middle of the day, bring your baits a good 5m off the bottom.  They’re also catching snapper in the river and around the river mouth as evidenced by someone catching a good size one off the wharf this morning.  There was a good size bass (over 40kg) caught a few days ago but generally the bottom fishing in deeper water is proving difficult.  With scallops off the menu now, divers are doing particularly well with crayfish – both reds and packies but make sure you know the rules before you go looking for them.

Cathedral Cove Cruises Soft bait, Slow Jig and Sliders Competition:

This event ran very smoothly last weekend in good conditions.  Thank you to all the sponsors and the competitors for ensuring an enjoyable competition.  Congratulations to all the winners and especially major club sponsor, Rod Johnson who too out the heaviest snapper day prize, heaviest snapper overall and the boat sweepstake and won himself almost $1600 in cash.  It was well attended too with 64 anglers fishing n 24 boats.

Congratulations:

With quite a few people fishing last weekend, it’s no surprise to see a couple of pending pin fish.  Firstly, Finn Holmes with a 10.84kg kingfish on 10kg line and secondly, Rod Johnson’s 8.29kg snapper was caught on 6kg line (TBC)

Reminder: Vaccine Pass

Government regulations require that we check all patrons are the holders of a vaccination pass from today (Friday 3rd Dec).  No Pass – No Entry.  This is a requirement placed upon us by the government and we have to enforce it or we will need to be closed.  Any frustration, anger or abuse directed at staff will not be tolerated.  We welcome all members and their guests and ask that you bear with us whilst we have to operate within these well publicised restrictions.
