Notification On The Postponement of the 2025  MBGFC Open Tournament
Your tournament committee has decided that the MBGFC Open Tournament normally held in mid February will next year be postponed until 2026.
Next year’s fishing calendar has become congested with two new tournaments scheduled that have not previously be  held. The Trailer Boat Tournament Feb 6-8th Waitangi weekend and the Centennial Tournament  26th Feb to the 1st March.

The Open normally coincided with the NZ Nationals which has also impacted on previous year’s entries . The Nationals will still go ahead.

We appreciate that this decision may not suit all our anglers but feel sure you will support our decision.

Longshore Marine No Bait Competition
We’re gearing up for Longshore Marine No Bait Tournament 1st to the 30th November . This is now a one month tournament so there’s plenty of opportunity to get out and get amongst it!
We would like to thank our sponsors - Longshore Marine, Black Magic Tackle, Catch Fishing, Hutchwilco, Ocean Angler, Shimano and So Dope.

Trailer Boat Tournament
Entries are chugging along nicely for this tournament 6th to the 8th February. Just like the Centennial, this tournament is capped at 150 boats. Put your team together and get you entry in early!

Extreme Boats Tournament - Volunteers Required

This year the Extreme Boat Tournament is back at the club from the 28th – 30th November. 400 anglers are entered and the food and beverage sales will be contribute significantly to our club.
We need a volunteer team to help the  set up of the Blue Lagoon. Meet 9am Saturday 23rd for a couple of hours. Morning tea on us !

Give Gordon McIvor  a call on 0274 979 737 to help.

New Club  Web Site and Tournament Management Software Upgrade.

You will have received an email from us advising members of a significant initiative that will upgrade both our website and our tournament and data base management software. This has been in development for over two years due to the current system becoming obsolete and unsupportable.

These projects are never easy and a special shout to Anne Smal is appropriate given that she has spearheaded this project from the the get go. Hours and hours have been committed to this project as a volunteer – big thanks to you Anne.

On The Big Screen This Weekend
Not much is happening on the sporting front this weekend and nothing significant to show on the big screen. NPC has finished, Super Rugby is about to start, and the All Blacks take on the Pom’s at Twikkers at 4.10am Sunday morning.

The one to watch will be to see if the Black Caps can win the 3rd test in Mumbai and clean sweep the Indians 3 zip on their home soil. Match starts at 5pm and if you’re a test cricket fan I’ll pop that one on the big screen.
NB: Happy Hour jugs from 3.00pm  6.30pm this  Saturday and Sunday
