FISHING

I haven’t had a lot of feedback this week about fishing since I’ve been out of circulation for a week but the few stories I have heard are very positive.  It very much sounds like if you can’t catch a snapper out there at the moment, you need to have a good long look in the mirror and think about what you’re doing wrong.  There are some good size snapper being caught pretty much around all the islands and in the bay.  Even with the discoloured water inside Centre Island there are mackerel schools with the attending kingfish and there are also john dory being caught along the north western edge of the bay.  There are several reports of Southern Bluefin Tuna being caught off Waihau Bay now so hopefully it won’t be too long before we can get to them a little closer to Whitianga.

 SUBSCRIPTION NOTICES

Subscription notices for the season beginning 1st July are in the process of being posted out now so you should receive one in the next week or so.  If you don’t receive one, please contact the office so we can check your current address.

FISHING SEASON

The new fishing season starts on July 1st and many of our members will be out there catching southern bluefin tuna, broadbill swordfish and all of the in-shore species.

PLEASE NOTE:  In order for any fish caught to be recognised by the club (eg: for pins, trophies, records), you need to have paid your subs for the 2022-23 season before you go fishing.
