Speaker on Deep Sea Fishing Night – TK Offshore Fishing (Tuesday 3rd February)
The Club is excited to host TK and Cam Walker of TK Offshore Fishing on Tuesday 3 February, kicking off at 6.30pm, for an engaging evening of offshore fishing insight, real-world experience, and audience Q&A.
TK will share firsthand stories from their time in deep-sea commercial fishing for tuna and swordfish—covering life offshore, proven tactics, challenges at sea, and the hard-earned lessons that come from operating at the sharp end of the industry.
The night will also feature a practical session on TimeZero forecasting software, the same tools TK uses in his day-to-day offshore operations and within his online programme, The Offshore Crew. This session draws on over 40 years of combined knowledge and experience, focusing on sea surface temperature analysis, offshore data interpretation, and how to use this information to make better decisions and lift your results on the water.
To finish the evening, there will be spot prizes generously supplied by Hunting & Fishing Whitianga.
Free entry – all welcome.
FISHING REPORT
Offshore
The fine weather has returned, and the Tuna are still out there. Good reports this week of Yellowfin, Albacore and Skippies being caught. Congratulations to Anne McIvor on “Caprice” for her 2 nice Yellowfin caught yesterday. Those fish were caught in grids “GSD Construction” and “Bodman fencing” in 250m and 170m respectively. The Ladies Tournament is on this Saturday and with good weather forecast, plenty of fish should be caught. We are still looking for a Marlin to be weighed, so come on Ladies.
Inshore
Reports of some nice Snapper being caught around the Islands, and out on the sand this week. All the usual methods seem to be working. There are a few Mackerel around as well so a great chance to get some of those and have a crack at the Kingfish. One report of some nice John Dory caught at Red Merc while Snapper fishing.
No reports recently from the divers or spearos but with the fine weekend ahead I’m sure they will be out there.
Good Luck Ladies, and good Fishing.
