Fishing Report
Offshore
Confirmed reports of 20 – 25kg Yellowfin up around the Cuvier pins last week taking live baits while Kingi fishing, and lures with work ups also being seen. We had a Yellowfin weighed in a few weeks ago from the same location so it’s great to see these fish still around. Water temp out wide reported to be between 18.2 – 19.3 degrees in places so not bad for this time of year.
Bluenose and Puka are also being reported when the conditions allow.
Also a few reports are starting to come in of a few Bluefin being caught off East Cape. Can’t wait until they are a bit closer, won’t be long!!

Inshore
The Top 10 Snapper competition went ahead over Kings Birthday weekend with 11 x teams braving the very average weather conditions. Steady fishing from most boats with limit bags being reported. Congratulations to Cole Edwards fishing on “Smuggler” who took out 1st place with a nice 6.27kg Snap and also took out the sweepstake. Check out the club Facebook page for the full results as well as some nice pictures. A huge thanks to Andrew at the Stunned Mullet, and Okuma for once again sponsoring this event.
Please support these sponsors when you are looking to purchase gear as without their support, we can’t run these events. Club members also get a 10% discount from “The Stunned Mullet”. A well-attended prizegiving on Sunday night topped off a great comp.
A nice 21.30kg Kingfish “bycatch” for Mark Franklin who fished the Snapper comp now tops the leader board for the heaviest for that species so far this year.
Good Fishing…
