NZSFC 70th AGM – Next Week
As mentioned last week the Club is hosting the NZ Sport Fishing Council’s 70th AGM Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September.
It’s business as usual at the Club on Friday so come down, we’d love to see our members around the Club and help us give our NZSFC guests a warm Mercury Bay welcome.
Please note: the Clubrooms will be closed on Saturday 19th September while we host the NZSFC AGM and 70th Anniversary Awards Dinner.

Volunteers Needed:
As we get ready to host the NZ Sport Fishing Council’s 70th AGM, we’ll need a few extra hands to help us get everything ready and pack it all away afterwards.
We’re needing some assistance to help set-up the clubrooms on Saturday morning from 8.00 am and pack-down on Sunday from 9.00am, just turn up if you can, we would appreciate it.
NRL 2nd Round of the Finals – Warriors vs Knights Sunday 20th Sept at 6.05pm
The Warriors are back at it again this Sunday and hoping to get the job done!
Again this week we’re putting up a Warriors Jersey that will be won by somebody here cheering then on. All you have to do to be in the draw is to be here at the start of the game.
Grab a (free) ticket and you’ll be in to win the prize. As this year’s apparel is scarce as hen’s teeth, the prize is a voucher for the 2027 Warriors jersey as soon as they become available – we’ve heard it will be around November 2026.
We’ll see you all here before 6pm on Sunday. Good luck in the draw and UP THE WAHS!

Whitianga Esplanade Boat Ramp Dredging Notice
Message from the Harbour Services officer – Thames-Coromandel District Council has received approval from Waikato Regional Council to undertake maintenance dredging at the Esplanade Boat Ramp, Whitianga, from 23 to 25 September 2026.
The dredging is required to remove accumulated sediment that has reduced navigable water depths and created a navigational hazard for vessels using the boat ramp. The works are supported by the Recreational Harbourmaster as necessary to maintain safe vessel access.
The Whitianga Esplanade Boat Ramp will be closed to public use from 23 to 25 September 2026 while dredging works are underway.
Bunnings Heartland Championship – Round 8
On Saturday 26th September, Thames Valley will host South Canterbury at Lyon Park.
The South Canterbury team will be joining us for dinner at the club on Friday evening ahead of Saturday’s match.

Kids’ Fishing Workshops – School Holiday Fun at the Clubrooms!
Get the kids outdoors these school holidays for a fun-filled fishing workshop with Nicky Wilson on Wednesday 7th October.
Children aged 5–8 years can join the morning session from 9:30am–12:00pm, while those aged 9–14 years can take part from 1:00pm–3:30pm.
The workshops are packed with fun and practical activities, including fish facts, knot tying, fishing tips, making flashers, casting, water safety and ocean caretaking — with plenty more along the way!
Tickets are $40 per child and include a goodie bag worth $50. Spaces are limited, so get the kids booked in for a great day of fishing, learning and fun!
